Deception has existed in humanity since the very beginning. Once humans began communicating with one another, lies were being told; not always with bad intentions mind you. It is a part of who we are as a species, intertwined with our very existence. Other organisms are deceptive too; birds, fish, insects, the list goes on.
So we are not alone.
Curiosity about if someone is actually being honest is something we have all experienced. We have all been lied to, and we have all told lies. Fibster was created to be a fun way to test whether or not someone is possibly lying to you; again, it's human nature.
The subject of polygraph practice and procedure is vast; entire courses are taught about it. The most important organs in the human body, in relation to lie detection, are the lungs, skin, and heart; all of which are controlled by the nervous system. The nervous system is divided into the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS); the PNS has a significant role in polygraph science, specifically the autonomic division. Further subdivisions of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) are the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions, responsible for a persons "fight or flight" response and reaction to stress.
Fibster uses smartphone technology to access physiological data in real-time to determine test results. The data collected during a test is directly linked to the ANS and is used in conjunction with our scoring algorithm to identify possible deception. Please note; the subject matter of the test must be meaningful to the participant for optimal results.
